UPDATE: According to KOMO News, Gonzaga has decided to drop the charges against the students. The school is also going to reconsider the policy in light of the incident. 

(NEWSER– Two university students in Washington state are facing expulsion after they scared off a would-be intruder with a gun, KXLY reports. Roommates Erik Fagan and Daniel McIntosh were at their Spokane apartment, which is owned by Gonzaga University but is off-campus, when a six-time convicted felon who'd recently been released from jail knocked at their door two weeks ago. John Taylor asked for $15, but Fagan says he offered food or a blanket instead of money. "My gut instinct was telling me that I wasn't going to be able to get that door closed before he came through," Fagan says.
