From the USS Ronald Reagan

Posted June 6th, 2014 @ 9:58am

On this date in 1944, the largest amphibious assault in history took place. Many saw it as a turning point in the war and we now know it as D-Day.

As we remember that day and those that bravely served, we have been given the opportunity to share a somber moment from aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.

This is a photo of one of our Navy servicewomen, Petty Officer 3rd Class Torrie Woods from Huntsville, as she carries cremains of a veteran onto the aircraft carrier for preparations for their requested burial at sea.

The name of the soldier to be laid to rest was not disclosed but we are proud to join in saluting them.
