Middle School Student Accused Of Making Up Threat To Get Out Of School

Horace Good Middle School

A middle school student from Horace Good Middle School in Garden City, Kansas was arrested after police say she made up a threat in an attempt to get out of school. The girl is accused of claiming that an anonymous person sent her a threat on social media.

The girl's plan did not work because officials decided not close the school. Instead, they increased the police presence at the school.

Investigators determined that the girl, who has not been identified because of her age, had no intention of carrying out the threat and that the school was never in any danger. She was taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated criminal threat and booked into a juvenile detention facility.

The false threat comes one week after authorities investigated another threat against students at the middle school. In that case, police say that a 14-year-old posted threatening messages on social media "involving the depicted use of firearms with intent to harm students.”
