Zac Brown Is Thankful For The Extra Time At Home With His Five Kids

Being quarantined at home has given Zac Brown more family time now than ever before and he's thankful for every second.

"I've been grinding for 22 years without taking a break," Brown tells People. "I put my kids first always, and I put them first when I'm making my schedule, but it's kind of erratic. So to be home and just be really super present and consistent with my kids has been great for them and it's been great for me."

Brown's youngest son, Alexander, turned six-years-old in early May. To celebrate, Brown helped throw him a video game themed party on their property.

"We set up our whole property like [the video game] Fortnite and had a party," he says, noting that his four other children, Justice, 13, Lucy, 12, Georgia, 10, Joni, 9 and his ex-wife, Shelly, were also there. "Military crawls, obstacle courses... we had an awesome time."

Even when there's no birthday to celebrate, Brown still tries to make each day fun for the kids. He and the kids spend time on his property outside Atlanta playing games, scavenger hunts, riding his Land Cruiser through the field and "tromps through the woods."

In the interview, Brown goes on to talk about co-parenting with his ex-wife Shelly. "I couldn't have a more amazing mom for them," he says. "They're our first priority and they've got steadiness and love from both sides. Our kids are a product of all the love and time we give them."

The extra time Brown has with his kids now is not something he's taking for granted. "I feel the best when I've gotten them to bed and that all five of them have had the best day I could provide for them," he explains.

"Maybe they learned something or maybe they feel a little closer as a unit together," Brown adds. "When they're happy and secure, there's nothing more important than that."
