Songwriters are struggling financially in Nashville. As a result, there aren't as many there that used to be. They just can't support themselves.
With music streaming, songwriters end up with very little compensation. Of course, that can change if the song they write is a radio hit. But if the songs they write don't end up going to number one on the chart, even if a big name artists cuts the song for their album, it doesn't do much for them.
So, Kip Moore is stepping up to the plate. He gives his co-writers a bonus out of his own pocket each year and he's hoping other artists follow suit.
