Sandwiched between an opener against #6 Washington and their first SEC Opponent #11 LSU, Auburn had a tune up game with Alabama State. The Tigers were a bit sluggish at the start but thanks to big defensive and special teams plays, Auburn was able to cruise past the Hornets 63-9.
The focus of this week was to establish the run and get the young freshman experience heading into conference play. Jarrett Stidham went 6/11 for 113 yards and a touchdown through the air as Cord Sandberg and Malik Willis also saw action at quarterback. The Tigers racked up 429 yards rushing on the night with Redshirt Freshman Jatarvious Whitlow leading the charge with 122 yards on 14 carries and true Freshman Shaun Shivers close behind carrying the ball 13 times for 117 yards. On the night, 11 other Tigers carried the ball for 190 yards.
The Defense was rock solid in their efforts with 9 tackles for loss while forcing 4 turnovers. The Tigers return to action in Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend vs. #11 LSU at 2:30pm on CBS! You can also listen on your radio dial at 100.3, 100.3TheRiver.com, or just search WQRV on the iHeartRadio app!
