We’re right in the middle of tax season, which means most of us are doing what we can to give the government all that they’re owed – and not a penny more.
While that idea might seem right to most of us, it’s not what everybody is doing.
There are actually people out there who are giving added money – as gifts – to help the government pay down the debt.
And, the government is open to this idea, making it as easy as possible to “donate.”
If you’re interested in kicking in a little extra something for Uncle Sam, you can contribute online at Pay.gov by credit card, debit card, PayPal, checking account, or savings account.
Or, you can do it the old-fashioned way by writing a check, and, in the memo section, explain that it's a gift to reduce the debt held by the public. (Treasury Direct)
