A British discount airline is giving new meaning to the phrase "fly the friendly skies" – by offering a whole bunch of perks to passengers who play nice.
Monarch Airlines announced this week that it would give free upgrades to folks who were polite and kind when purchasing tickets, and to those who arrived at the gates in a good mood. Staffers have been told they are allowed to give away perks like seats with extra leg room and priority check-in to the best customers every day.
Company COO Nils Christy told Britain's Daily Mirror, "Everyone benefits from niceness. Planes depart more punctually, staff and customers are happier and it improves the traveling experience for everyone."
