We know you should never talk politics or religion on a first date, but you can find out plenty about a potential partner without going there.

PureWow has four suggested topics to help you get to know that new special someone:

"If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?" If it's the South Pacific, he thinks big and swings for the fences. If he says home to Toledo, it shows a down-home, practical vibe.

"What are three things on your bucket list?" The answer will show his mindset: Are they Amazing Race-style challenges or more down to earth? Just as important, could you be part of the picture?

"What cocktail best describes you?" Silly? Not really: See if he picked his favorite drink or got creative by picking a flavor that speaks of his personality?

"Do you eat to live or live to eat?" The two personalities couldn't be more different ... and if you're opposites, the first date should be the last.
