It's Uncle Sam Day!

Uncle Sam Day: The real "Uncle Sam," Sam Wilson, was born on this day in 1766. Sam Wilson was a meatpacker from New York who supplied meat to soldiers during the War of 1812. To identify the meat for shipment, Wilson stamped "U.S." on the barrels. It wasn’t long before the soldiers started calling the meat a delivery from Uncle Sam. Needless to say, the nickname stuck.
