Soon people will be heard saying things like, "They can land a cell tower on the moon but I can't get service here in this shopping center."
That's because next year, 4G cell service will actually be available on the moon. Yesterday, German telecommunications company Vodafone announced a partnership with Nokia and car-maker Audi to launch the equipment into space aboard a SpaceX rocket next year and land it on the near-side of the moon. The network will make it possible to stream high-definition video from the moon back to Earth. The mission will be privately-funded. (NY Post)
