The Grissom High School JROTC Corps of Cadets will host the annual GrissomJROTC Warrior 5K Run on February 9, 2019. Join us for our 10th anniversary 5K race to support local veterans. With the help of our sponsors, we have donated over $52,000 in support for this effort. That is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to the cooperation and patriotism that characterizes our communities.

This year, our race will raise funds to support Got Your Six. The mission of Got Your Six is to train services dogs to aid veterans suffering from PTSD. All services they provide are at no cost to the veterans. The Warrior 5K Run will continue the long-standing traditions set by previous Grissom JROTC 5K runs, with all the patriotism and pageantry that characterized those races. The proceeds from this race are shared with Got Your Six and the Grissom JROTC program. If you have any questions on how you can support or get involved with the Grissom JROTC 5K Run, please contact our race directors, Helen Stinson and Sandy Stevens at

Huntsville Got Your Six Canine Training is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing no cost PTSD Service Dog training in the Huntsville AL area to military veterans with PTSD and their dogs. Got Your Six is an alternative to being on a wait list for a pre-trained dog (which can be up to 2 or 3 years in most cases) or spending tens of thousands to purchase a pre-trained dog. We service active duty and separated members of the military and the minimum qualifications are; be in treatment, have a letter from your provider recommending a service dog and provide an Honorable DD214. Veterans train the dog, or puppy, through the entire process with our guidance attending group classes, individual sessions and training in the real world. It is a lot of work, 2-3 hours per day, and takes commitment and dedication.
