The City of Decatur is expanding its workforce development footprint with the annexation of the Alabama Robotics Technology Park (RTP) into its municipal corporate limits.

Operated through a collaborative effort between the State of Alabama, the Alabama Community College System, and AIDT, the Robotics Technology Park is poised to serve as the primary training source for the workforce of the upcoming Toyota-Mazda Assembly Plant.

Joining Calhoun Community College as an annexed property on Highway 31, RTP will receive municipal assistance from the City of Decatur including:

• Fire Protection

• Law Enforcement

• Public Works

“We are overjoyed to welcome the Robotics Technology Park into our city,” says Mayor Tab Bowling. “Together, we are expanding our educational impact for North Alabama and are securing the necessary services needed for continued growth and advancement. This could not have been accomplished without the support of Sec. Greg Canfield of the Alabama Department of Commerce and AIDT.”

The Decatur City Council will review annexation documentation at its next agenda work session on Monday, January 14.
