Per Decatur Animal Services - - - Time – Dog or Cat?? Dogs are high-maintenance animals. They have to be taken out fairly often if they live in the house with you. They crave and must have regular attention from you. After all, you are the leader of the pack. Regular exercise and play are a definite must and at least some obedience training is necessary. Some breeds take a good amount of grooming and some dogs need to be socialized a lot. So ---- Dogs require a lot of time and some of us don’t have that!! The cat is more solitary and can handle most of their needs by themselves. Beware though, they just may need some lap time or they will make sure they lay on your computer when you are trying to use it.
