Drake State's Military Veterans College, Career, & Apprenticeship Workshop

Twickenham Center

The workshop will engage military active-duty, guardsmen, reservists, retirees, Veterans and their dependents on the local services and programs available to them through Drake State. These services include access to veteran’s service officers, veteran’s educational benefits, apprenticeships, career services, mental health support, credentials, and academic programs.

“The success of our military and Veteran community begins with involvement and connection of resources,” said Veteran Affairs Coordinator Neoka Hambrick. “Drake State and the Alabama Community College System is making a difference in the life of our military communities through a combination of knowledge, skill, value and quality in education and workforce development.”

“Public community colleges were created many years ago to provide veterans with an opportunity to gain training closer to their homes. We are approaching 60 years as the Alabama Community College System, and we recognize that our greatest impact comes when we work alongside entities that are committed to serving the residents, businesses, and industries of our state,” said Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker.

The ACCS Workforce Division has sponsored a $2000 scholarship for a Veteran, active military member, or their dependent who attends Drake State’s College, Career & Apprenticeship Workshop scheduled for February 28, 2023.
