Breaking News: shots fired at GOP practice

We are gathering information about a gunman at the GOP Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, VA.

Rep. DeSantis who at baseball practice recalls: “A guy...walked up to us that was asking whether it was Republicans or Democrats out there.”

Soon after, shots were fired on the GOP practice.

The Democrats were practicing just a few miles away, for tomorrow's bi-partisan baseball game, an annual event that brings the two sides together.

They stopped as news broke, to pray for the victims.

More than 50 shots were fired. House majority whip Steve Scalise has been shot in the hip and 4 others were shot as well.

Mo Brooks has gotten word out that he was not shot.

There are reports that Brooks used his belt as a tourniquet for Scalise.

Medevac has gotten Scalise to the hospital for treatment.

The shooter, James T Hodgekinson, was killed.

President Trump stated "The Vice President and I are aware of the shooting incident in Virginia and are monitoring developments closely. We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of Congress, their staffs, Capitol Police, first responders, and all others affected."

This horrific attack on members of our congress is bringing comparisons to the 2011 shooting of U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords and eighteen others were shot during a constituent meeting held in a supermarket parking lot in Arizona.
