Yesterday, the city of Huntsville practically came to a standstill as news of a possible "active shooter situation" at Redstone Arsenal spread.
A little after 10, we got word of the situation and went live with WHNT News 19 for their coverage.
As the morning went on, a holding pattern appeared.
Little or no information was forthcoming as Huntsville PD, SWAT and the FBI descended on the area around the Sparkman Center.
Employees were told to shelter in place and to "Run, Hide, Fight".
Hours passed and rumors began flying on social media.
Some believed that a woman had taken a lover or her husband hostage in a jealous rage, some whispered that there had been a murder-suicide, some even wondered if there was some correlation to the arrest made recently of a Huntsville man accused of supporting terrorism.
However, all official statements continued to be vague.
And that's basically where the information line ended.
As of this morning, there are no new updates.
Whatever information comes to light in the next few days, we're just happy no one was actually injured.
The response from all emergency responders was swift and commendable.
We will certainly update when we get details.
