Huntsville Botanical Gardens Native Plants Symposium

The Huntsville Botanical Garden will host its first annual Native Plants Symposium on September 12-14. The Symposium will open on Thursday with a casual wine and cheese reception and book signing at which native plants will be for sale. Friday’s speakers will address the amazing biodiversity of Alabama; how to incorporate native host and nectar plants for butterflies into your garden; native grasslands; and practical and unique uses of native plants in the landscape. There will also be tours of the new Native Plants Teaching Garden and a poster session at which local college students will talk about their native plant projects. Saturday will conclude with tour options including at birding walk at HBG or a field trip to see native plants at Wade Mountain and workshops on the Garden’s trillium collection and another on educational apps that can be used in your garden, the Botanical Garden or on a nature hike. There will also be a variety of native plant related vendors.
