Brantley Gilbert helped a 99-year-old Granny break a world record during his performance earlier this month.

“Granny, here, is going to become the oldest woman to crowd surf,” Gilbert told the crowd as he introduced Pauline Kana to the stage. Kana is widely known as “Gangster Granny” after rising to viral social media fame nearly a decade ago. Kana’s grandson, Ross Smith, and Gilbert shared a video of the record-breaking moment in a joint Instagram post on Sunday evening (May 17).

“That was awesome,” Gilbert told Kana after she surfed the crowd while strapped to a cot. The audience chanted, “Granny! Granny! Granny!” In his Instagram caption, Smith thanked “all the 20,000 people for making this happen,” and said, “I still have chills listening to that Granny chant.” He hailed the historic crowd surf an “iconic” and “funny moment.”

Guinness World Records confirmed that Kana — “99 years 274 days” — is officially the oldest person to crowd surf. “Pauline crowd surfed over multiple rows of people at the tender age of 99, achieving this rocking Guinness World Records title,” the global reference and documentation resource states. Kana broke the record on May 2 in Bellville, Texas.

“I did it!” Kana exclaimed at the end of the video. “I’m the greatest of all time!”
